The Germantown Library is thrilled to invite you to Ekphrasis: Writing from Images, a four-session writing workshop years in the making by author and professor Mariana Graciano.
This workshop is designed for visual artists, writers, and creative spirits eager to explore the connection between visual art and literature. Whether you’re inspired by photographs, paintings, or collages—or simply intrigued by the interplay of image and text—this space is for you.
Workshop Details
- Dates: Saturdays, May 3, 17, 24 & 31
- Time: 10:00–11:30 AM ET
- Location: Online via Germantown Library Zoom
- Cost: Free (thanks to the support of Poets & Writers)
You’ll engage in close observation and free writing inspired by visual works. You’ll also celebrate the contributions of Latinx women artists and writers such as Frida Kahlo and Emma Reyes, whose works will be featured in an included anthology.
What to Expect
- A welcoming space that fosters interdisciplinary connections and multicultural perspectives.
- Materials and instructions will be available in both English and Spanish (you can choose in which language to write and speak).
- A final session featuring a group reading/exhibit of works in progress.

Me emociona invitarte a Écfrasis: Escritura desde la Imagen, un taller de escritura de cuatro sesiones que he estado planeando—literalmente—desde hace años.
Este taller está dirigido a artistas visuales, escritores y espíritus creativos que deseen explorar la conexión entre el arte visual y la literatura. Ya sea que te inspiren fotografías, pinturas o collages, o que simplemente te intrigue el diálogo entre imagen y texto, este espacio es para ti.
