Piñata Workshop + Posada Story Time
- Sunday, December 8: 2 – 4 pm
- Makerspace (enter through the lower parking lot)
- Scroll down to RSVP for one of 25 spots to reserve hot coco and piñata materials
- Ages 5 + with adult supervision — teens and adults welcome to make, too!
Learn all about the rich traditions of Las Posadas: A Mexican Christmas Tradition during a Spanish-English bilingual story time with Maritza. Then join Ester to start a colorful piñata to finish at home . . . or add to the December 14 Winter Glow decorations. We’ll also share music with Elba and enjoy Mexican hot chocolate! Adults should plan to stay with their child but do not need to RSVP for themselves unless they plan to make a piñata. Teens and adults welcome to make, too!
We are so thrilled to welcome Maritza and Elba back to the Germantown Library. Fans will remember them from our October Heritage Fiesta!
What Are Posadas? Posadas are a series of fiestas navideñas (Christmas parties) that traditionally take place December 16–24 in many Latin American countries, including Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Cuba. Many people of Latino heritage in the U.S. also partake in the tradition.
