About the Event

Each participant will be given a disposable camera, which the Library will develop, and will learn about approaches to image making and make your own photo story on film. The first session will include an introduction to the world of photography and a discussion on sequencing and narrative. The group will review together examples of Deen’s favorite photographers, some of whose work can be found in books at the Library. The session will conclude with a photo assignment to explore how constraints prompt creativity.

Participants will complete the assignment and return their disposable camera to the Library by Tuesday, July 8 in order to share their developed images and creative process in part-two, which will be held on Sunday, July 27. Deen will help photo edit the participants work, and everyone will complete the workshop with their own work of art.

The two sessions will take place on Sunday, June 22, and Sunday, July 27, at the Germantown Library from 1 to 3 pm. The workshop and materials are offered for free. Space is limited.

Please note: This reservation secures your spot for both events, on June 22 and July 27. If you are unable to attend both dates, please do not RSVP, as space is extremely limited.
