Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
• Monday, April 8: 1 – 5 pm
• Germantown Library, Lower Parking Lot + Makerspace
• RSVP to reserve viewing glasses — we’ll check your name off a list when you arrive! We are now out of RSVP glasses but you can still join us to experience the eclipse in other ways.
• Alma’s Tacos Food truck (Bring your wallet! It’s elote season!)
• Parking in our upper lot is reserved for those with mobility concerns and families traveling with small children. There is some parking at the ball field 0.2 miles away, outside the activity center 0.2 miles away, at the school and municipal parking (both 0.6 miles away).

Join us for solar eclipse-related crafts, games, and activities leading up to the big event! We’ll have craft and activity tables set up in our lower parking lot for kids and adults to drop in and participate. Stop by any time.

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.

Safety is the number one priority when viewing a total solar eclipse. Be sure you’re familiar with when you need to wear specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing by reviewing these safety guidelines.

Come dressed in a solar eclipse-inspired outfit! Let us know if you’d like to help run one of the tables. We love our volunteers!

Approximate timeline for our area:
• 2:11 pm: The Moon will start to pass between the Sun and Earth and the sky will start to darken.
• 3:26 pm: The Moon is most directly between the Sun and Earth. This is when the sky will be most dark. We expect 95% coverage…for about a minute!
• 4:46 pm: The Moon has passed and the Sun is revealed again.
